Flat water inside the bay. Can have waves on a NE. Beginners should stay within the bay and not go out too far. Tides make a big difference.

Nice sandy beach. Lots of space at low tide, gets small on high tide. Launch with enough distance to the jetty.

In summer months the water can reach 80°F. In the winter it gets down to 50°F. The kiting season here is year round. Wetsuits are necessary from November to April.

Take I-95 towards Savannah GA, Exit on highway 16 east to Savannah. Come into downtown Savannah and hit Bay Street. Go to the end of Bay Street and turn left on President Street. Follow President Street until it turns into Highway 80, follow 80 for 20 mins and you will run into Tybee Island. Turn left on US 80 onto Polk Street. Turn right onto Fort Street which becomes Taylor Street. Park at the North beach parking lot by the lighthouse and take the North walkway to the beach. Walk NW past the jetty. Launch as far away as possible from the jetty.

Kiters must wear kite leashes on Tybee Island. Impact harnesses are suggested. Do not kite alone. Stay away from the jetty. Don't go out far if you can't stay upwind.
