Beautiful, clear water. Some coral reefs around. Shoes recommended. The water is flat to choppy. Close to shore with offshore or sideoffshore winds very flat. Excellent speed areas and perfect for jumping, right on northern end of the Soma Bay. Shallow area to the left and right.
It almost never rains. Almost always sunshine and warm. Summer can be up to 40°C and the water 29°C. The sun is very hard, so clothes as sun protection is highly recommended. In autumn and spring nice temps with around 30°C and water still about 27°C. Winter gets a bit colder, temps from 20-25°C and the water about 22°C. A shorty is recommended, sometimes even long legs.
Great winds from spring to autumn. Summer has the most windy days. From October to April can be good can be bad. But normally you will have windy days at each trip. Winds can be anything, normally gets stronger before noon and drops in the afternoon. The wind is always stronger than the forecast, but if at least a norther wind with at least 2-3 Bft is forecasted, then you get enough to have fun. Northerlies are sideoffshore and the usual direction. So make sure to have a rescue available.
Fly into Hurghada. Then with a bus, taxi or car about 1 hour (70km) to Soma Bay. A few hotels around, but not exactly at the beach, so you need to walk, kite upwind or take a boat (leaving from Safaga).
