Open ocean, often with swells and therefore real (small to medium sideonshore) waves, and wind-driven chop. Bottom slopes down slowly, so you can walk out nearly a line-length before getting in your straps. Watch out for swimmers and surfers.

Nice soft sand. No grass. Sufficient space. Must walk a ways to the `corner` where the beach curves, between the well-separated parking areas, in order to avoid the well-enforced swimming zone. Packed beach during the weekend.

About 5 days/week from April 1st to November 1st of at least 10 knots for at least a couple hours around noon, when the wind direction is close enough to South (as the direction does it's typical rotation from SSE in the morning to SSW in the afternoon). Quiet constant wind, sideshore or sideonshore winds. Be aware that the beach is in a bay, so expect stronger winds outside. Can be gusty close to shore due to the cliffs.

 How to get there
Transport:
- Car
Access:
- Medium Walk

Driving out of LA airpot (LAX) go south on Sepulveda (Highway 1) all the way through Redondo Beach, right on Avenue H (after Ave. G, F, etc.), left at the end, and park just before the road curves up and left. Lots of parking, but can get packed at the weekend. Walk SE (to your left, facing the ocean) all the way to the `corner` where the beach curves right, in order to avoid directly onshore winds, and also avoid the well-enforced swimming zone.

Edit
 Rules, Restrictions and Extra Info
Rules:
- Restricted Zones

Kite leash must be attached to your body (no `grab` leashes) whenever the kite is airborne. No riding within 200 feet of shore, unless launching or landing (when launching, go upwind and get 200 feet on as direct a course as possible). No jumping or jibing within 200 feet of shore. No jumping near any other watercraft. Allow enough room to allow for any possible equipment failure. Stay completely away from swimmers and surfers. Can be gusty close to shore, so beginners should drive to Long Beach for better conditions.
