Beautiful turquoise Caribbean water. No real tide. A reef about half a mile out so it's pretty flat. You can get outside of the reef for some good swell.

The windy season is from November through April. Normally the wind comes from the Northeast which is sideshore here. When the Southeasterly hit it is onshore, but since there is a point to the side, you have very easy and safe launching and landing. Normally between 10-20 knots.
Drive from Playa del Carmen towards Cancun for about 12 kilometers. You will see some flags and billboards for a restaurant on the highway. Turn right at the sign and follow the dirt road to the beach.
08-02-03 Unknown: The fee, as of Feb 2008, was 10 dollars per person. Also: beware of huge amount of jet-ski's that are constantly ripping through the area. Leaves very little room to take a kite out. They even advice for people to stay out of the water because of the volume of speeding jet-skis in the area.
