On the west side usually real flat to choppy water. Some stones in the water. You can stand everywhere in the water. On the ocean side chop and small waves, which can get a decent size with stronger easterlies.
During spring and autumn with wetsuit, during summer short arm or shorty. A wetsuit is necessary nearly all over the year. The water is between 5-20°C (spring to summer), air temperature is in the average 18°C (in summer) and can go up to 30°C. If you have the adequate wetsuit you can surf from April to November. Off-season is possible but very cold.
Take A7 and drive north until the exit Rendsburg/Buedelsdorf drive further to Eckernfoerde. In Eckernfoerde turn left to Kappeln. Near Kappeln you will see a McDonalds sign, take a right here. After a few kilometers there is a sign on the right side `Strand`. Take a left. At the end of street drive right and you will automatically get to the water.
