Works with all wind directions. Best directions are westerly and easterly winds. Can get choppy then. Southerly winds are gusty on the southern side of the estuary.
08-08-01 Unknown: The Malahide estuary is usually not used by kitesurfers (I've only seen one in two years). You always find only windsurfers on the estuary when the wind is good. I assume the reason in the missing lauch areas near the two main surf entries to the estuary. Kitesurfers usually go to Dollymount beach, where you find a sandy beach, a dedicated kite launch area and clean sea water.
