It is more flat or choppy water. No tide. If the wind is getting stronger there are some waves but not too high. Shallow for about 50m. Two sandbanks in the water make it also suitable for beginners. Further out in the water, the ground is sandy.
Sandy beach with pebbles starting about 5m from the waterline; from there on, pebbles and larger stone mix, making the first 10m not exactly easy.are still able to stand). The beach is about 20m wide at the parking space, less elsewhere. Launching of tube kites should only happen with the rider in the water; ram airs (Flysurfer kites) can easily self-launch. Landing should happen with the rider still firmly in the water.
A wetsuit is necessary nearly all over the year. The water is between 5-20°C (spring to summer), air temperature is in the average 18°C (in summer) and can go up to 30°C. If you have the adequate wetsuit you can surf from April to November. Off-season is possible but very cold.
Pretty good spot for all northerly directions. NE and E winds get accelerated. Best winds from fall to spring. Any strength possible, depending on depressions. Summer lighter.
From Eckernfoerde to Kiel. Take the first exit which says `Nebenstrecke Kiel`. After about 5km there is a crossing with the sign Lindhoeft. Take a left there and drive all the way through Lindhoeft until you get to the parking. There is a sandy beach directly next to the parking ground.
All water sports is prohibited directly at the the parking space - this is a swimmers zone; water sports is allowed again 60m to the left (boats anchoring) and 240m to the right (wide open space).
Please honour the small swimmers' zone that is marked with white buoys.
Be sure to get a parking ticket (inexpensive!). Payment of parking fees *is* checked and it is much cheaper to buy the ticket.
