In the south part of the lagoon you will find excellent flat water and the water is from 0.3-2m deep. Outside on the reef you will find a slowly breaking wave, which can be huge (up to 5m), but does not create a tube.
The weather ranges from hot in summer (42°C) to mildly cold (4°C) in winter, which implies that we enjoy terrific weather almost all year round. Summer: warm water, no wetsuit. Winter: cold water, long wetsuit.
Summer is the best time to kite in Perth. Summer starts in December and finishes in March. During the summer Perth gets the Infamous 'Fremantle Doctor' - 'the most consistent wind in the world', making it ideal kitesurfing conditions. It's just like clockwork, coming in between noon from SW, and 3 pm. Giving you somewhere between 15-25 knots (average) a day. You maybe able to get some days in during the winter time, however with strong, gusty, and squally winds, it maybe difficult. Not to mention the rain.
