Average year round temp of 75°F. Year round kiting with wetsuit needed only in 3 months during winter. Few afternoon thunderstorms and easy to see them comming from the west somtimes producing fast outflow heading north when storms form south of Dallas.
Best time is noon to 6pm for the strongest winds. Great for S, SE and SW. Bad for N and NE. Best in spring and earl summer before the bugs replace the wind during the hot months.
Head east of downtown Dallas past the I635 LBJ intersection through Garland to the first bridge over Lake Ray Hubbard. Take the Dalrock exit to the right turn to Robertson Park and drive to the southwest part.
No beginners please - dangerous rocky launch. Ask around for times when we'll be kiting to get help dialing in this precious and only good south launch in the D/FW area. Look out for fishing lines (and rotting bait by the bucket) and sudden drops in the wind leaving you to self rescue down wind or walk your kite back up the crowded beach. For North days in fall and winter go to The Power Plant or Terry Lane.
