Usually wind all year. The best wind you have from December till August. During this time the wind is blowing between N and East (most of the days NE which is sideonshore from the right). In winter every two weeks there is a Northerly wind that increases till 30 knots. Than it turns a little to Northeast and slowly dies till 10 knots. And this goes on and on.

 How to get there
Transport:
- Boat
Access:
- Short Walk

After arriving at Cancun airport and from there you have 3 possibilities: 1. you booked your holiday by a travel agency. In this case the transport will be arranged in the total deal and somebody is already waiting for you to bring you to the island. 2. you booked only a flight. You have to arrange a taxi by yourself from the airport to Chiquila (more or less 70/80 USD) and from there you can take the ferry to Isla Holbox. 3. you booked only a flight and you don't want to spend to much money on a taxi. In this case you take a collectivo taxi to downtown Cancun with destination bus station. This will cost you 9,- USD (please buy the ticket before you go through customs!) At the bus station you buy a ticket to Chiquila for 6,- USD. The bus trip will take 3 hours and there are no extra costs for taking your kitesurf equipment with you. In Chiquila you take the ferry to Isla Holbox (4,- USD). Bus Schedule: Cancun to Chiquila 8.00 am / 12.30 pm / 13.30 pm.

 Rules, Restrictions and Extra Info
Rules:
- Restricted Zones
- Fees

You need to pay 20 Pesos per day for kitesurfing. It's not allowed to kitesurf directly in front of the village because all the fisherman have their boats at that place and they don't know what to expect from a kitesurfer! Please stay at the kitesurf area it's big enough (a beach of 1.5 km) and it's the best place to kite anyway! If the wind is offshore on the main beach you can take a boat which brings you to a several beaches among the island. There is no ATM (money machine) on Isla Holbox! So make sure you bring enough money (Mexican pesos) or traveler cheques with you. You can change your traveler cheques in the internet cafe.

Edit
 Nightlife
There is only one disco but is always a surprise if its open or not, if it's open then you have to go there. There are a few cantinas where you can get drunk as much as you want, they are funny! Also you can have a drink in the bar of your hotel or in a restaurant around the main square where you can make your own party!

 Comments
09-08-25 Unknown: It's a wonderfully pristine island, not yet commercialized, and let's hope it stays so. there aren't cars, just golf carts and bikes. endless beaches and shallow waters that are fun and meditative to hike if there is no wind... really good seviche & cervesas at local fish restaurants.
