High tide: choppy, no swell but waves and troughs can build up. Low tide: excellent for learners. Tidal pools with flat water for great fun. Shallow water for quite a way out. Wear booties if you're a beginner who is going to be standing a lot. Very sharp pebbles/shells.
Shingle beach. Launch and land site is a grass field next to the beach, ideal. Must be careful of pedestrians. Good idea to get a buddy to help you down the beach.
From Southampton drive towards Portsmouth on the M27. Take exit 9 and follow A27 towards Fareham. After about 2 miles exit A27 and get on B3334 towards Stubbington. Get to Stubbington and then get to the water and Hill Head. Find the beach at the southwest point of Hill Head.
Take care around pedestrians and give other water goers a wide berth. Use leashes, safety and helmets if your wearing board leashes. Do not set up your gear near the children's park!
