The sandy beach next to the harbor is quiet wide. It gets seriously crowded in summer, beach will be packed with tourists, so no way to launch there. Avoid hot sunny days. Look out for the harbor wall in E and NE winds.
Summer is nice and warm. High season a shorty is ok, a few weeks with just shorts is possible. Usually a wetsuit is always needed. Water max 22°C in summer, normally around 15°C. Winter gets cold, but a thick wetsuit, gloves, mask and shoes make kiting almost year-round possible. Air: summer between 20-30°C, spring and fall around 15°C.
From Hamburg and Luebeck drive North on the A1. Exit where signs say `Groemitz` and follow that direction. In Groemitz get to the beach. More space next to the harbor.
