The Oregon coast is usually cool. Water in the 50s°F so a full wetsuit is always needed. Spring to fall kiting with air temps from 50s-70s°F. Watch out for fog.
Look for wind any direction except E when it rolls off of the land and is gusty. N-NW are the best. It can be very windy here (40+) so watch the forecast and hit the water early on windy days. On N wind ride the South jetty. On S wind (winter time and gustier) ride the North jetty.
Drive from Portland south on 105. From Eugene take 126 west until you reach Florence. Here drive south on 101, cross the bridge and turn right onto S Jetty Road. Follow it until you hit the ocean and turn right and drive all the way north until you hit the south jetty.
Surf rules: rider on the wave has the right of way, otherwise right hand forward has R-O-W. Park pass required or park on the jetty itself so as not to pay (locals fought hard for that right). Closes at 10pm, no camping.
