Depending on wind directions and strength you have flat to choppy water or waves. Best waves in SW winds. Stronger current and shore break in stronger winds. One big obstacle in the water.
Summer is nice and warm. High season a shorty is ok, a few weeks with just shorts is possible. Usually a wetsuit is always needed. Water max 22°C in summer, normally around 15°C. Winter gets cold, but a thick wetsuit, gloves, mask and shoes make kiting almost year-round possible. Air: summer between 20-30°C, spring and fall around 15°C.
Get to Fehmarn and take the first exit and drive to Landkirchen, Lemkendorf and then to Petersdorf. Now drive to Schlagsdorf and follow signs to Westermakelsdorf and "Strand". Parking directly behind the dam, but cars shouldn't be higher than 2m. If your car is higher, park before it goes uphill to the left. But not really allowed.
