Ocean side: perfectly flat because of the offshore wind with Nortada and the Alvor East pier protection. The river mouth offers flat to choppy water and lots of shallow areas, perfect for beginners.
North wind (Portuguese "Nortada"), every day at 3pm for sure (18-20 knots). Sometimes earlier. Only in sunny days (more often). North is onshore/sideonshore in the lagoon. Season: from June to August (best month).
07-07-28 02:15 Toby: during the last days the wind came in the afternoon. Sometimes at 3pm and sometimes at 5pm. Yesterday it got strong at about 8pm with up to 25 knots. Sunny and warm during the day. The water is a bit warmer now, about 18°C. A shorty is fine.
07-07-24 23:48 Toby: Oceanside: light sideonshore winds until 3pm, then it turned within 5 minutes to sideshore and then sideoffshore blowing about 16 knots. In the late afternoon it increased to 25 knots. Gusty on the ocean side. Air about 26°C, water 16°.
