The lagoon sometimes even runs dry. There are areas of corals and water plant which are easy to see. Besides from very low tide you can always kite above them. After the 150m the water gets deep and a bit wavy if the wind is strong. Somewhere are some reefs but not dangerous. The two shallow reefs are marked by two flags. This is the entry area to the deep water for the windsurfers. About a 1km from the coast is another shallow reef area. Shoes are a good idea because of some pointed shells.

Only 2 kites and lines fit next to each other. (Be very disciplined with leaving your kite and lines on the beach!). Officially it is not allowed to launch kites from the hotel beach, but from the neighboring plot of land. However that beach is not being cleaned, so watch out for flotsam and jetsam that could damage your kite! Secondly the beach there is slightly sheltered from NW-wind (for launching move a few meters into the water!). The coastal line is a slight bay, so in normal NW-N wind conditions you cannot get lost.

However: A bit more onshore than El Gouna and due to its location upwind of the city not as gusty as Magawish in NW winds.

Normally, there are more windsurfers than kitesurfers there. So, watch out for them as well. Don't block the area between the two flags. Windsurfers are not too comfortable if you kite among them. Stay either upwind (no beginners!) or downwind from them. The bay lee side of the hotel is used for kite lessons. In this case, stay away! The entire spot does not take much more than 10 kiters at a time.
