Avoid weekends and holidays. Starting at dusk swarms of mosquitoes emerge and stay until the wind starts the following day.

If it does not blow your looking at 115 °F in the shade, low temps at night are seldom below 90°F from late spring to early fall.

This beach is wind shadowed when it's offshore, one can still launch with effort, but you can not return to the beach because of the wind shadow. Also note the onshore wind will back out away from shore in the afternoon, if this happens beware of huge dust devils that spin down slope and out through this canyon. Updrafts over the north point result in lofting kiters into the mesquite trees and rocks.

A little ways down you will see huge power lines. Near them take the dirt road on the right. Then take your first left down the very long rough road towards 6 Mile Beach, Lake Mohave.

A crosswind point protects each exit; any mistake when leaving the cove and you must abort. Please be very careful, the wind is fluky at these points and the trees eat kites. Listen and watch the locals that know the conditions. Don't jump inside the buoys. Rangers don't tolerate violations during busy times.
06-09-30 gene: Went to 6 mile for 5 days, wind never blew over 12mph, but we had a boat so it was still a great lake to explore. Beautiful desert scenery
05-08-16 Christain: This is no kite spot, I've been there 6 times and have regretted each attempt; long rough miserable dirt road, stifling hot, no wind hungry mosquitos.
Don't bother you've regret it I promise.
05-08-01 Jerry Dawson: I went there several times in search of wind and the beach was so crowded with motorhomes, trucks, jetskis, tents literaly hundreds of people and lots of garbage all over the place and I could not even find a safe place to launch my kite. This is far from an ideal place to kiteboard and temps were over 120 degrees and the mosquitoes REALLY sucked at nighttime.
05-06-09 KiterSteve: Not to mention... several people have been airlifted out of this place w/ serious injuries not only to their bodies but to there wallets also. SoCal has much better conditions IMHO.
