Best direction is Northeast and Southeast. Onshore makes it tough to get out. Wind year round but best months are late fall through early spring.

Go left (north) for a mile or so, spot the pier and go about 300yrd. Further north looking out for maker 10 and a plethora of kites (Juno Kitebeach). Another 1-2 miles north and you can find the civic center on your right. North side of the civic center is normally pretty void of crowds.
