Water depth varies from 1-6 feet deep over a large fringe reef area, with deeper areas around channels. Flat water riding. Shoes are recommended due to the reef. Tidal beach. Most kiteboarders stick to the flat water riding over the reef, although some also like to play in the waves at the edge of the reef.

Beach can be accessed by car, so park right where you launch and don't worry about having to carry your gear.

Winds are relatively steady. Occasionally winds shift from another direction which is no problem since it is an island and there are other locations to move to. Best wind is during the months of September thru May, but there are winds pretty much year round.

Drive south past Pago Bay and drive for about 5-7 miles. Access to the beach that is used for kitesurfing is just before the bridge before you get to Jeff's Pirate Cove.
