On a spring low tide with a low tide level below 0.4m there is a really good speed bar from the end of the dunes at the river mouth going out to sea for about 700m. It's a square course in NW wind. When you get into Foxton Beach keep going on the main road until you see a campground ahead to the left in Pinewood Rd. Pass the entrance to the campground to the left and drive over a big wide sandy area the size of several football fields towards the dunes next to the river. Park and rig here for sailing on super flat water on the river. For wave sailing drive further through the village past the campground towards the surf life saving club. Big parking area there.
