Nice white and soft sandy beach with plenty of space, no rocks, few shells, plenty of space to launch and land kites. About 2km long beach. Since it is a bay you still can go a bit downwind and won't need rescue. The best zone of the beach is the Northern zone, because there aren't swimmers or boats. But you can kitesurf in the whole beach as long as you are careful with the rest of the people.

This makes for a unique offshore wind situation. Normally, offshore wind means very smooth water and gusty wind but in this case the wind it is incredibly stable, which makes it one of the best places in the world for kiteboarding. Best time for kiting here: February until the middle of June. Typical kite sizes for 176lbs/80kg: 16m 20%, 14m 30%, 12m 25%, 10m 25%. Windy most of the year.

And finally, take a boat from El Yaque to Coche Island (many in El Yaque organize this boat transfer). Playa La Punta is right next to the two hotels you can stay in Isla de Coche. The boat will leave you in Playa La Punta, so all you have to do is walk with your stuff to the hotel when you get out of the boat. Some hassles involved in getting the ferry from El Yaque (don't forget to book your return ferry as soon as you arrive on El Coche).

Make sure you get rescue info before you go on the water, since the wind is offshore. Inofficially the South part is for windsurfers and the North part for kiters.
08-05-09 Unbekannt: For all those who wish to travel to coche please contact kitesurfchris@hotmail.com for the latest info. Note Yes there are a few jellys for the months of april and may.The water is clean as NO SEWAGE is pumped into the bay.Your stomage problems are from eating to much in the ALL Inclusive Hotels.Coche Truly Rocks!!
08-05-01 Unbekannt: With 25 Kites the spot is already very full since the wind blows 95% offshore.
In April 07 & 08 there have been a lot of jellyfish (the big one don´t hurt, but the small one...!!)
Furthermore it seems that a lot of sewage is pumped very near to this spot into the sea. (most probably from the 2 hotels)
Nearly all of us had problems with the stomach (some needed antibiotics) - but we are not sure if that was caused by the dirty water or by the food of the 2 hotels...
07-07-30 Unbekannt: After the outrageously gusty winds of El Yaque, across the water, this place will restore your love affair with kite surfing! Super flat water, constant winds, a rescue service which puts El Yaque's to shame and a safe large launching and landing area away from unsuspecting crowds.
05-04-07 Detlef: In the end of March we had every day wind, day and night. I used (80kg) before noon 14 m² and in the afternoon 10 m² (sometimes up to 33 knots). Most times the wind came from east and was gusty.
The rescue is busy and cheap: 5 $US.
The PKRA Worldcup will start there at the 12th of April.
