There is a rock jetty on the dry part of the beach. You may not be able to kite at high tide as the tide comes right up to the rock barrier. Sand is pebbly in some spots, not a lot a launch except at mid to low tide.

Can kite starting in April (pre-season), May is beginning of season, June through September are best times to kite there. Summer is hot and humid. Wetsuits required most of season except July, August and September. May want to use a shorty in September. Very cold in the winter, and ocean can freeze. Very popular site for buggies and boarding.

Best Wind Directions: West: onshore, stable and gusty. Southwest: sideonshore, stablest wind. Northwest: sideonshore, can be gust, be careful! NNW: gusty, recommended for experienced kiters only. North: blocked by hill and very, very gusty, not recommended for kiting at all. South: may be blocked in the small harbor. SE: sideoffshore, not rideable in this wind. East: offshore but good for crossing the bay to Revere, for experienced kiters for this wind only. NE: blocked, not kiteable due to orientation and hills blocking the wind.

You have to park at Nahant Beach and walk 1/8 mile up the road or you could drop your gear off from your car, park and walk back.

04-07-01 Local BD Kiter: This beach is not for beginners. There have been many close call collisions into the rock and one serious accident. Don't attempt to ride at this beach if you are a beginner or intermediate, experts only. I'm not being elitist either. This is a sincere warning that you could get hurt or killed riding at this beach if you can't handle gusty, on-shore wind conditions.
