There are several options for downwinders in N, NW and SW winds. Downwinders include waves, flat water, and beautiful natural terrain and scenery.

Turn left at stop light just past `Food Lion` grocery store. Go to end the end of the road. Walk over the dune (use boardwalks please!). You're there! Just north of Cape Charles Harbor.
04-09-17 Brad Noble: I have been taking lessons in Cape Charles with Southeast Expeditions (757)331-2660, I have found this area both the bay and the barrier islands on the oceanside not only beautiful but a great place to kite board and learn. this just might be the best kept secret on the east coast!!!!!!! even waves out side the barrier islands you my need a boat for the downwinders as you can go downwind for hours or miles!!!! Some night life for some but a place for serious KBer,s, and beginners!!!!!!!
