With sideshore winds the water gets choppy. With high tide a lagoon is created, shallow for some hundred meters. On South and Southwest winds very nice waves (up to 1.5m), excellent for surfing. On the other side of the dam (Oosterscheldedam) is the Veersemeer with flat water. Some sandbars in the water, which are changing due to the different currents in the water. Be careful if the dam doors are opened, then a strong current takes you away from shore.

From Rotterdam take the A15 and take exit 12 `Rozenburg`. Here on the B57 towards Ouddorp/Middelburg and to Vrouwenpolder. In Vrouwenpolder get to the Oosterscheldedam. Take the first bridge from the parking on the right side to get to the beach. Parking directly at the beach, 3.50 Euro fee.

Even in high season swimmers are instructed to leave this corridor for kitesurfers to enjoy. The only place in the Netherlands where you can kite on the sea with eastern winds.
