Here you can find a huge lagoon with perfect flat water and a big stand-deep area, or waves outside on the beach.
- if you are a flat water enthusiast - surf in the lagoon. Because the lagoon is open to the sea you have to deal with the brazilian tides. There are currents in the front of the spot, only when the water runs out, if you don´t like that - easy - go in the bigger back part of the lagoon, there you find the whole day flat waterconditions.
- if you like small waves because you are practising the first steps on waves, go on the right side of the beach. Here you find (depends of the tides) a big aera to stand in the water and the waves are not that high.
- if you prefer more radical waves - left side of the beach. Not for beginners.
Very nice beach. Lots of space, white and soft sand, some rocks but no big deal at all.
In Barra do Cunhaú you have diferent possibilities to start and land your kite: - direct to lagoon with onshore wind and normaly enough place depending on the tide. - on the left beachsite with sideshore wind with big start and land area. - or on the other site of the lagoon on the right beachsite with sideonshore wind and place for 300 Kites.

The main wind season in Barra do Cunhaú is from July till end of January. The strongest and most constant wind is from July till November with an average wind speed of 12 to 25 knots. December and January see wind speeds between 10 to 18 knots.
The wind slowing starts working in the morning and reaches between 10am and 12am the main windspeed of the day.
The distance from airport to Barra do Cunhaú is about 1 hour drive (85km). Take the bus or drive by car from airport south via street number BR101. After about 70km you turn left direct to street number RN269. By the way you pass Canguaretama. After 15 km you are in Barra do Cunhaú.
On the other site of the spot on the right site of the beach you should not drive on the beach with the buggy or 4X4, in the season when the turtles come and place their eggs in the sand.

There are a lot of pousadas one hotel some restaurants with good food and a bar. On weekends in the small center of Barra do Cunhaú are a lot of people - dancing, musik, drinks and food, but normaly here is a quiet place, for sportsmen and romantic evenings. If you want party, plenty of bars, disco til morning, and a lot of people all over the world, go to famous surfer village Praia do Pipa. There is a taxiservice between Cunhaú and Pipa. About 15 minutes drive.

14m 10mk kite, pipa village is awesome and 15min by car. Sail between tides is not good (strong current. Try to get the high or low tide current stops.
