Clean and clear freshwater. Georgian Bay is a lake so don't expect ocean conditions. Although with a few days of 30kts wind, waves can reach 3 meters. In light wind wave size ranges from small chop to 1 or 2 feet, in 20 kts waves are around 3-4 feet. Expect more of a skate park session, than a Waddell Creek wave riding experience. Typical waves are 1 meter. Waves are beach break with nice shape.

Huge beach. Soft sand with little bits of rock here and there. Very user friendly. Worlds longest freshwater beach, more than 15 km of pure sand beach, about 50+m wide, with very few rocks. Launch area is clear and sandy, lots of room to launch.

Spring season starting April, steamer, if you are soft, you'll need boots and gloves. July and August board shorts work well. Fall season ending around October, put your steamer back on. Usually the higher the wind the cooler the temps. Water temps can range from 80 to 32°F and can cool rather quickly. Temps range from freezing in spring and fall, to 30°C in summer.

Northerly winds are best. Works well on west around to Northeast. Offshore winds are a no-go, too gusty (0-30kts). Spring and fall have best chances of wind, while July and August are quite calmer. But, anything can happen. Although rare, we do see 50 kts a few times a year, average of 15 kts is most common. Average 2 or more days per week throughout the spring, summer and fall. Spring and fall are windiest.

Wasaga Beach has the longest freshwater beach in the world. There are many launch sites available, but the local kite community would like to restrict launching to Allenwood Beach. The ministry of natural resources have authority over the beach areas, and can close beaches to kiting. Absolutely do not ride or fly kites inside the swimming areas, (marked with white buoys) and at beach areas 1 through to 6 especially in July and August when on weekends there can be up to 100,000 visitors. Kite inside the white swimming buoys and it a $105.00 fine unless you are coming straight in. Set up on Allenwood north of the small stream to the right of the parking lot. Beginner bodydraggers are best to find another lake. To kite this spot effectively you must be able to kite upwind consistently so you can get outside the white swimming buoys.

07-08-30 Unbekannt: Beach 6 is good but not possible in July and August due to the swimming buoys. The rangers will fine you and it will threaten continued access for kiting at the beach. You can launch at Allenwood and then kite down to Beach 6 if the wind is right.
05-06-09 James: better at beach 6 they call it. wider beach as well there is no school here. beach 6 is south west down the beach about a 15 min drive, there is signs along the way you can't miss it...best nw crossshore...no doming that way...
