Sporting Equipment * Golfing Equipment Kits containing only 1 Golf bag and a pair of shoes will be charged equal to 6 Kilos of excess baggage per kit. Only 1 such kit may be pooled in the Free Baggage Allowance of the class of service used. If not included in the Free Baggage Allowance, such charges will be applicable. Any weight of such golf kit in excess of 15 Kilos will be charged normal excess baggage charge per kilo. * Snow/Water Skiing Equipment: The skiing equipment kit may contain 1 pair of skis, one pair of boots or 1 snowboard, 1 pair of boots and 1 pair of standard water skis. Charges shall be at the applicable rate for 3 Kilos of excess baggage. Such skiing kit may be pooled in the Free Baggage Allowance but if in excess of the Free Baggage allowance, it will be charged as above. Only 1 such kit may be allowed to be pooled in the free allowance. Any excess due to additional ski kit will be charged normal excess baggage rate. Sporting Equipment for USA/CanadaGolfing Kit/Surf Boarding equipment – The will be charged 50% of the excess baggage charge. Such kit can be pooled in the Free Baggage Allowance but only 1 per passenger. Excess weight due to additional kit shall be charged as an extra piece. Snow/Water Skiing equipment - The kit containing 1 pair of skis and/or 1 pair of boots or 1 snowboard and 1 pair of boots or 1 pair of standard water skis, if in excess will be charged 33% of the applicable excess baggage charge. Excess Baggage Should your baggage exceed the limitations of the Free Baggage allowance, an excess baggage charge needs to be paid. In the weight system the excess baggage charges per kilo is 1.5% of the highest normal direct one way economy class fare. These charges will be in effect on the date of issuance of the excess baggage ticket. Special Charges for certain items: In case you wish to carry a bag with you which you do not wish to place in the overhead rack, you will have to pay the normal fare for an extra seat, as if you were paying for an additional passenger. This baggage will be subject to security clearance. Tour fares or other rebated fares may not be used for excess baggage charges. Maximum weight of such seat occupying excess baggage should not be more than 75 Kilos per seat. Even if such extra seat charges are applied, passenger free baggage allowance will not be increased. Please note: Baggage in excess of the checked baggage allowance will be charged per piece at a flat rate depending on your sector of travel. Pearl class allowance is 30 kg on all sectors. If your luggage exceeds the authorized weight you will have to pay a supplement. Due to security requirements, passengers and their baggage will not be accepted at the ticket counter less than 45 minutes prior to the scheduled departure of their flight (some smaller airports may accept baggage up to 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure time). Baggage may be checked no more than 4 hours prior to departure time. For each fare-paying customer, AirTran Airways allows two (2) checked pieces free of charge, with size limitations. The maximum weight is 50 pounds and maximum size is 62 inches (length + width + height). Military personnel may check one (1) duffel bag or sea bag in place of a 62-inch bag. Any customer who requires use of a wheelchair may have it checked as baggage at no charge, and it will not be considered part of the passenger's free baggage allowance. Free baggage allowance takes into consideration the reasonable baggage requirements of customers, as well as the cargo space and weight limitations of the aircraft. Customers desiring to carry more than permitted by the free allowance may do so, if pieces offered do not exceed the size and weight requirements and the appropriate excess baggage is paid. Any type of fuel is forbidden from transport in checked baggage. Fuel can be shipped as regulated dangerous goods through the cargo facility. Self-heating meals (i.e.: MREs, flameless ration meals) are not permitted as carry-on or checked baggage due to the risk of unintentional activation of the heating source. Customers may transport these via air cargo only. Propane and empty propane tanks may only be shipped on all-cargo aircraft. No matches/lighters are permitted in checked luggage. Golfing:To be packaged in a proper soft or hard golf case. There is no limit to the number of items inside the bag, up to 50 lbs, and may exceed 62 linear inches, but must be no more than 115 linear inches. Scuba:Scuba equipment may exceed 62 linear inches, but must be no more than 115 linear inches. Items must be packaged in a proper soft or hard scuba gear case, except the scuba tank. The regulator valve must be completely disconnected from the tank. The tank must have an opening to allow for a visual inspection inside. Limit of one empty scuba tank, one regulator, one tank harness, one pressure gauge, one mask, two fins, one snorkel, one knife, one spear gun, and one safety vest. Gear must be in one container - tank may be separate. Additional items shall count as excess baggage. Skiing:To be packaged in a proper soft or hard ski/snowboard bag. Limit of one pair of skis/snowboard, one pair of poles, bindings and boots. Exception: For Horizon Flight series 2000-2999, each individually checked piece of ski equipment is counted toward the free baggage allowance. Passengers traveling with ski equipment are allowed to check 3 pieces of baggage free of charge; one of those pieces must be designated by the passenger to travel on a standby basis. Items listed below will be accepted if they are appropriately packaged in an original factory-sealed carton, cardboard mailing tube or hard sided container or case designed for shipping such items or packed with protective internal material. However, items listed below will be accepted without the appropriate packing upon the execution of a release. Aloha Airlines will supply a release which relieves the carrier of liability for loss or damage of contents which results solely from the unsuitability of such items as checked baggage and/or the inadequacy of their packaging and not from the carrier's failure to exercise the ordinary standard of care. 1) Surfboards – Not included in determining free baggage allowance. Maximum length for acceptance as baggage is 115 inches. The entire board must be encased in a suitable container sufficient to prevent scratches, dents, or other damages during normal handling.
