The beach is a long sandy beach but quite narrow. With strong onshore wind, this is not a safe spot as the smallest mistake might send you on the beach houses or on the road behind.
The summer temperature is around 20-28°C, in the winter it can vary from -10°C to 15°C. In summer the water is around 19°C and in winter 5-6°C. The weather in The Netherlands is very variable. From March to October the temperature is pretty good. When you are lucky you can have some days that you don`t have to wear a wetsuit. But normally you definitely need a wetsuit. In the months November to February it's winter time, surfing possible, but very cold.
Go to Haarlem (15km west from Amsterdam) and then follow the signs `Bloemendaal aan Zee - Zanvoort`. There is also a bus you can take in front of the Station in Haarlem. It will takes you about 20 minutes from there to get to Bloemendaal/Zee.
In summer when really busy, avoid walking on the beach with your kite. The beach is huge and if you walk up north for about 10 minutes, you will find nice uncrowded spots. This beach is really popular in the Netherlands.
At night, you can have some nice parties in the `trendy` beach clubs or restaurants (all located on the beach). Unfortunately everything close down around midnight. Next stop can be Zandvoort village or Haarlem where clubs and bars are open till 4am.
