08-11-18 00:45 CumbucoBrazil Unknown: Just came back (Nov'08) - rode Cumbuco ocean, buco'lagunas (flat fresh water) and up north - Taiba, Paracuru and on. I have been pretty much everywhere - Maui, Mauritius, Australia, Caribbean, Mexico, Tarifa. Mind you, I live in N.Cali. Forget it - this is the best place on the planet. Period! Winds are as consistent as a swiss clock. Mornings 8-11 AM about 15 knots; 11AM to 3PM consistent 25-30MPH; after 3PM is slowing down fast. KiteShops and Kiteschools do not have any larger kites than 12M. Food and hotels are cheap but good; equipment is outrageously expensive to buy or to rent it. Plan to bring your own. Other downsides: some crime; getting there is a bitch; it is a poor country and well underdeveloped. In most cases you can be on your own defense. Kinda - not a place for either very old people or little kids. Otherwise is a blast.

The wind was a bit up and down, due to some short rain showers passing by. The waves outside were up to 2m high. High tide was at about 1pm. Nice and flat downwind of the small islands. Cloudy weather. Shorts with a long sleeve lycra where a bit fresh in the afternoon. You can ride with shorts or shorty, depending how your prefer it.

It was cloudy, and once the sun came out, the wind got weaker. The wind was a bit gusty. I kited with a neoprene body and a neoprene long sleeve shirt on. Closer to shore the water is colder, warmer a bit out. You can wear something in between shorty and shorts.
Today the wind was about the same, but a bit weaker it seemed.
