Perfect flat water conditions in all winds. Shallow area. Choppy with Southeast winds. A south easterly is best ridden on a mid to high tide - at low tide it is too shallow. Some guys ride the channel when it is like this, but the launch is sketchy as it is just upwind of the pier - it is actually very rare to see kiters out at low tide on a SE - most just go elsewhere. Booties are nice to have as there is a mixture of sand, mud and coral/shells in the water. The water is filthy but does not smell too much. Sharp rocks/shells so you will need booties.

Sandy/rocky beach. Grass area, but the council does not like launching kites from it and does not allow it. You can launch on the sandbar.

06-01-02 Anonny: Have to agree with Nonny. Have had a bugger of a time cleaning my kites. East Queensland is huge and the beaches are just awesome, there are better beaches. Positives about this place, it can get nice and windy. Negatives, sharp rocks / shells so you will need booties, downwind is a huge bay and there is no rescue on site, popular with beach walkers and dogs.
05-11-29 Nonny: Kited at Wellington Point for the first time. Wind is nice. Does smell but not too much. Water _is_ filthy and have had a hell of a time trying to clean my kite and gear. There are probably better places to kite, but will do for the desperate.
05-05-15 Wello_Elizabeth: Geeze... c'mon guyz... Wello is a great spot for us kiters if you know what you're doing... even one of the champs, ryan & darryl, kites there... its not dirty water either... its pretty good... and it don't smell mate...there are sum rocks, but if u know ur location and if u know the spot... u know what 2 avoid... l8rz neways... good kiting and good winds... Elizabeth
05-04-22 bob: Wello is the best place in the world if u hit it in the right wind direction and at the high tide. Its good that it looks skethcy sometimes as it keeps people away and the locals can have it all to themselves.
04-12-27 Al: This place is not realy a kite spot and friendly spot and is only used because their no place close on the south side of Brisbane. Lots of rocks and not allowed to rig up on the grass.
04-09-20 Kenny: Breezy. See other comment. Stradbroke Island is worth the boat ride - a lake and beaches on the Pacific Ocean
04-09-15 Jim: Wouldnt recommend Wellington Point. If you ditch, you're going to get rocks or small rocks pretending to be sand. Wello Point is filthy, the water is brown, there is plenty of mud and it stinks!
