Baltic Sea - no tide! The waves become 1-2m high, choppy or real, depends on wind strength and direction. There are no obstacles in the water and you do not need shoes.
Nice and soft sand. The beach is 400 meters wide and there is enough space to launch and land a kite, but at summertime, July and August, there are plenty of tourists and so you will have no chance to go out, but at stormy winds you can also go out. There is a special kite zone in front of the Hotel Neptun (the biggest one).
Water temperature not more then 20°C at summer and not less then 4°C at wintertime. Air temperature at summertime 35°C and wintertime around 0°C. You can kite all year. Main season May to October.

In autumn and spring there are about 80% wind from 3-8 Bft. There are no usual directions, so you have to look for other spots around Rostock (e.g. Salzhaff, Bodden, Fischland Darß). Summer lighter winds. The beach makes a curve, so further east to the mole SW and NE are sideshore and further west W and E are sideshore.
You have to go to Rostock. From Berlin and Hamburg by train will be the best. By car is also no problem, you need around 2,5 hrs. In Rostock you have to go to Warnemuende by car via the road B5-look to the signs. By train you have to take the S-Bahn direction Warnemuende, every 10min. In Warnemuende look for a big white hotel (Neptun) and walk there. In front of it you will find the beach!.
