Best Tide:
- Low Tide
- Falling Tide

Flat water on low tide. Lagoons between sandbars at low tide for extreme flat conditions. Can be waves at at high tide if there is a swell. Outgoing tide is the best, or the current may negate some of the wind. Good for learning at low tide, at high tide you need to stay upwind to stay away of the south jetty, since the city doesn't want anyone kiting between the jetty and the pier. Watch out for the sign posts in the water at high tide. Tides make a big difference.

- Other

Avoid this beach in high summer (June to August) during mid-day. Too many people on the beach. Prefer to go there in the afternoon, less cords and thermal winds. The city doesn't want anyone kiting between the jetty and the pier. Watch out for the sign posts in the water at high tide. Since the beach is rounded, any sideshore wind can be offshore a bit further downwind. Kiters must wear kite leashes on Tybee Island. Impact harnesses are suggested. Do not kite alone.
