From Hurghada airport 60km to Safaga, then 20-30 minutes by boat. Its also a good spot for windsurfers and its possible to reach the island from Safaga takes about 10-15 minutes with windsurf or 30 minutes by boat and it also offers great snorkeling for the ones who just like to come on the boat and don't want to spend the day surfing.
04-02-11 Peter: Tobia Island takes about 10-15 minutes by kite or windsurfboard from the hotels (e.g. Shams), not 45 minutes.
The island is as large and flat as a soccer court with absolutely nothing on it, just Sand. The basis spot is the hotels from Safaga from where you can make trips to the island. It is not the sense to stay on Tobia e.g. for a whole day.
