Due to (side)offshore winds the water is really flat. Sometimes when the swell is more south, there is a point break really clean over a length of approx. 500m and not too high. If the swell is there, it's really a great place to learn wave riding without any danger. Stronger current in winter.
Sunny weather. Average temperatures: December to February: water 22°C, air 21°C. March to May: water 23°C, air 22°C. June to August: water 27°C, air 26°C. September to November: water 26°C, air 25°C. Winter, shorty or 3mm top is all that is needed.

The wind here is sideoffshore, sometimes sideshore from left. Best winds from November to mid of June due to the NE trade winds. Steady 3-5 Beaufort. Usually the wind doesn't get stronger then 6 Beaufort, but therefore very steady like nowhere else in the world. Very gusty close in, on the Planet beach, takes a minute or two to get out, but once 50m off its constant winds.
06-04-13 Tom: Leme Bedje is certainly the best flat water spot on Sal, easily accesseble from Santa Maria, either straight from the Planet centre, or a five min upwind ride from Skyriders. Flat, glassy water, and cear winds mean that its perfect for freestyle. Smalll waves break at the end, so good slashing turns and ramps for jumps. Very gusty close in, on the Planet beach, takes a minunte or two to get out, but once 50m off its constant winds...
