Flat water. Great for speed trips between Rügen and Hiddensee. Best conditions with southwesterly wind. Huge shallow area. Well, there's people claiming this spot to be the biggest shallow water area in Europe. The water is knee to waist deep as far as you might want to ride out. There's plenty of space - this spot is never too crowded! During summer, there is plenty of seaweed quite often so directional riders can get problems.
No beach here. Just a dyke and the shallow water to launch. On the camping site you have bigger grass areas to rig and launch, but you can find possibilities to launch almost everywhere.
A wetsuit is necessary nearly all over the year. The water is between 5-20°C (spring to summer), air temperature is in the average 18°C (in summer) and can go up to 30°C. If you have the adequate wetsuit you can surf from April to November. Off-season is possible but very cold. Ruegen is one of the places with the most sun hours per year in Germany.
