Choppy to small waves. Shallow for about 200m, no shore break. Stay closer to the fisher boats since some stones in the water will be further to the left. Waves up to 2m high on stronger E and NE winds.
Summer is nice and warm. High season a shorty is ok, a few weeks with just shorts is possible. Usually a wetsuit is always needed. Water max 22°C in summer, normally around 15°C. Winter gets cold, but a thick wetsuit, gloves, mask and shoes make kiting almost year-round possible. Air: summer between 20-30°C, spring and fall around 15°C.
From Stralsund drive over the dam and stay on B96 towards Bergen and shortly before Bergen onto B196. Stay on this road and drive towards Thiessow. Pass Lobbe and park directly after Lobbe for free on the parking lot to the left. Walk for 200m over the dunes to the beach. Use the paths. Do not walk over the dunes. If you come on high season with packed streets, turn right after the Ruegendam onto L29 towards Garz. In Garz follow signs to Putbus. Now follow signs to Lancken-Granitz and shortly after it get on B196. Turn right and drive towards Thiessow.
