Dry season: nice (5-8ft), rolling swell from the East, Northeast. Heading almost directly into the swell on starboard tack. The swell can translate into a difficult shore break when the tide is up. Choppy water when windy (no reef).

It is clean sand. At high tide some spots can be difficult to launch but you can find a safe place within a short walk. Sandy beach that stretches for about 15 km between the town of Phan Tiet and the village of Mui Nei. Further north beyond Mui Nei many more uninhabited sandy beaches.

December and January air temperature was mid 80-mid 90s°F. Water temperature warm - no wetsuit required. Basically, the South has two seasons: the wet (May to November, wettest from June to August) and the dry (December to April). The hottest and most humid time is from the end of February to May. The central coast is dry from May to October and wet from December to February. There is the possibility of typhoons between July and November, affecting the North and central areas.

Wind blows sideshore/sideonshore when it is on. Typically starts onshore in the morning and shifts to sideshore as it builds to usable levels. Main wind November to April: sideonshore 20-45 knots. Wind is nearly daily above 20-25 knots some times up to 35-40 knots. Wind is usually Northeastern. During the rest of the year 10-15 knots some time up to 20 knots sideonshore Southeastern wind. Wind can be quite gusty and water choppy.

Fly to Saigon/Ho Chi Min, 220 km northeast from Saigon. Arrival with tourist bus leaving from Pham Ngu Lao – backpacker's street, 2-3 times a day. 6 hours by bus, 5 hours by car transport that can be organized by the different resorts operating in Mui Ne.

05-08-26 Adam: More info on Mui Ne can be found at www.muinebeach.net. Two good schools can be found at www.sikcenter.com and www.kitesurfing-vietnam.com. This is a growing place, but there are areas north and south very quiet and untouched.
05-02-17 steeno: this place rocks. i was spent after a 10 day session. i was flying my 9 the majority of the time and used my 13 for the calm days. the people are awesome and the food is even better. waste no time...go here now!
05-01-23 Kosmonaft: Nice place. in december wind after lunch is not so steady. IMHO: Size of the kites for december: 16,12,10,8.
