The water is nice and shallow with nice sandy walking. Usually 2-4 ft waves, sometimes choppy. Clean water. Shallow for about 300 yards. Plenty of room for even onshore winds. Frozen in winter, excellent for snowkiting.
Typical Minnesota climate: if you know Minnesota you know the weather at Reddy. Summer is warm and sometimes a little humid. Spring and fall can be chilly, bring your neoprene. Winter: dress warm for some serious snow kiting.
Wind can be nice and lofty in the summer on southerlies. Fall, spring and winter are awesome here too! Many times the wind is stronger here, more than Malmo or sites to the west.
From the twin cities (Saint Paul/Minneapolis) take Hwy 169 North to 4 miles North of Garrison and turn East on Hwy 18 and go 11 miles and if it is windy you will see kites. There is a small paved lot just off the road and then a sandy road that reaches back quite a ways along the shore.
