There is tide. Take care with low tide in the East side of the island cause many corals and also two little artificial walls (about 1m high situated on NE side). Strong shoes recommended. The water is flat. During summer monsoon can form little waves inside lagoon. The island is big, around 2.7 km the perimeter. The lagoon is very big. Different sea floors: East side with many corals while West side you have sand. Take care at South side of the island, cause a strong current between Meeru and near other island Dhiffushi and also because there is a channel reserved to the boats traveling toward Dhiffushi.
In Maldives you have the most incredible kind of beaches. The color of the sea (in Meeru they say you can see 45 color tone of blue) and the white of the beaches are incredible. The white sand can cause eye injuries due to the intensity of the white light. The sand is soft. Rocks and corals only in the NE side.
Usually you have two seasons: from November till April you have wind from NE to SE direction and dry weather with temperature around 30°C. From May till October it's the opposite. You have wind from SE to NE, rain, around 27°C and the force of the wind is higher. But this is relative. Water temp. is about 28°C.

Wind is steady during summer monsoon, but in some days you can have gusty wind with rain, and after 20 minutes sun. Usually you have light to moderate winds. During summer the West side has onshore wind and East has offshore wind. I think for kiting the best side is the West and NW. Usually you have two seasons: from November till April you have wind from NE to SW direction. From May till October it's the opposite. You have wind from SW to NE and the force of the wind is higher.
Meerufenfushi is situated in Male North Atoll at 37 km North from Male, where the airport is located. It will take between 30-60 minutes with a boat (it depends on the kind of boat).
