Barnegat Bay is a shallow body of clean water with most areas waist deep. Glassy flat water behind an island and peninsulas for jibing, with huge ramps breaking on a sandbar for expert bump and jump. Kitsurfers use the far North point. Watch for hidden objects in the water.
This is not a kitesurfing launch area but is a downwind rescue spot for beginners and if the wind shuts down. Do not launch your kite in the park. Please launch less then 1 miles south at James St.
Famous New Jersey warm southerly thermal winds blow on average 2-3 times per weeks in May, June and July. Harvey Cedars is excellent for Southwest, West, Northwest and South winds. On a SE, S and SW, there is a place called the Terrain Park, 2-4 tacks upwind of Sunset Park. Best wind directions are SW (strong thermals), SE, S (very good), W (very choppy), NW, N and strong NE.
