The season of thermal wind starts in March/April till October. But still during winter time it's possible. Some times there is snow on the beach (just in January and February). It's ok from June to September, than it becomes quite cold. The spot is near the mountains and near to Silvaplana spot (South of Swiss). So it's recommended a warm wetsuit during coldest time. April to May: air 15-25°C, water 9-17°C, semidry wetsuit necessary. June to August: shorty time with air temperatures from 22-35°C, water 19-23°C.
The wind is coming from South, it's the best for kiting. Avarage kite size is 16 meters. Wind from 10-30 knots. The season of thermal wind stars in March/April till October. No one is kitesurfing with North winds. The South wind is regular, and sideshore or sideonshore. South wind is coming 6 out of 7 days. South wind: 14:00-19:00, steady usually 7-18 knots. North wind: sporadical usually 15-40 knots, very gusty. These 4 winds are possible: TIVANO: blowing the whole year from 6-10am out of NE. It's coming out of Veltlin and if it is missing, it means that the weather will be bad. BREVA: blowing out of the South if the Tivano becomes less. It's the main wind on this lake and mainly in the North quiet strong, blowing from about 10am to sunset. VENTONE: blowing from the North, often after a thunderstorm in the mountains with gusts up to 40-60km/h. Not recommended to kite in. MENAGGINO: out of the South with strong gusts, mainly after thunderstorms in summer.
Get to the North of Lake Como. From the west side cross the bridge `Ponto del Passo` and immediately turn right onto Via Boschetto. From the east side get onto SS340DIR and just before the bridge `Ponto del Passo` turn left onto Via Boschetto. Follow the road for about 2km, at the end turn left and get to the beach.
