In the lagoon, the water is perfectly flat and shallow, but a few meter outside, you will find the ocean with nice waves, no chop but surfing waves (great surfing spot but not always).
In summer no wetsuit is necessary (only a few days you'd need one). Spring and fall, short suit or even long. Winter very cold, but maybe with a thick wetsuit it is possible. But there is a long comfortable season from, October/November to April/May.
Usual direction in summer is E, SE and NE. About 3, 4 or 5 days a week in summer, other seasons 1-3 times, and direction may vary. In the lagoon you can ride with almost any wind direction, at the sea you need NE, E, SE, S or SW. Wind speed usually (7 out of 10 days) starts in the afternoon (16:00) with 14-16 knots.
It is about 40 km east from Punta del Este. Nearest airport is Intl. airport from Laguna del Sauce. If not, Carrasco Intl. Airport Montevideo, about 160-170 km.
In summer (January) amazing nightlife, rest of the year many clubs and bars remain open. January is a better month for night life (perfect for single people) especially between new year and the 15th of January. February and March is much more tranquility and relaxing (ideal for family).
