Direction is usually West-Northwest in the afternoon while it's East in the morning. September to October is the blowing season with depression bringing strong wind up to 35-40 knots. La Salie is not a city but more a place so it's really difficult to know if you are there or not. What you need to do is to follow the road which is between Biscarosse and Arcachon/Le Pyla. This road is straight forward and when you're at half between Biscarosse and Arcachon you'll see some parking spaces on the beach side. Just park your car there and walk for about 30-40m through dune/sand and you'll arrive on the beach. You'll see a long bridge going on the water. Go on the bridge left side as tide will probably go North-South.
