Hooksiel is a tidal spot. Riding is possible about 2.5h before and after high tide. The water's character varies about every minute with the raise and wall of the waters level. In general Hooksiel is a flat water spot, although the water may become pretty choppy.
Sandy beach. The size depends on the tide. Kitesurfing zone is signed. The kite beach and the designated kitezone is right behind cashier #2. Important: kites are only to be started and landed in this specific zone. The beach is about 50m long.
Air 20-30°C in August, water about 15°C. Season starts in April and ends in October. Off-season kiting possible but rather rare in water around 2°C and air around 2-5°C. Wetsuit always needed.
The beach is north of Wilhelmshaven. Just follow the A29 to Wilhelmshaven until it ends, at the red light straight on. Just follow this way for about 5 km, you will see industrial plants on the left. When you cross the bridge on windy days, you will already see kites right in front of you.
