Miami air: 18-32°C, water: 24-29°C in season. Bring a wetsuit for cold days, but only a few days is it necessary. Season is October-April. From October-February the water temperature will go from 79-60°F if we get a cold front, so bring a wetsuit if you get cold on this kind of weather. From March-June the water will be at 75-80°F so a wetsuit is not neccessary.
The Bay is good on Southwest winds and is usually gusty. In summer time we will be going on 20 meter kites and in the season (Oct-June) from 12 to 20 meters depending on the wind. On season (Oct-June) wind will be ranging from 10-15-25 North or Northeast which is offshore (it gets sronger with a cold front), South winds are always good. The wind cycles runs for 4-6 days. In North winds drive 1/2 mile to Crandon Beach Park. Onshore SSW.
Drive from Miami downtown to Key Biscayne (pay $1 toll). After the second bridge the beach is directly to the right. You can park right at the beach for free.
Not `beginner friendly`, there are lots of palm trees and you are close to the main avenue so launching is tricky. Not without leash, the street is too close! Avoid onshore winds.
