Beach is soft sand at the very top. No real debris on the beach. Some small sticks etc from nearby trees. This beach is just up the road from the Urangan Pier and shares the same sandbar just offshore. The beach is bordered by a large rock wall. This beach is only usually kited on N (onshore) or NW (sideonshore) winds and at lower tides. On big high tides, there is no room to launch/land. On higher tides, you have to go to Tooan Tooan Creek. More sand has now built up on western side of rockwall so easier to launch on higher tides there.
Air temps average from low 20's°C (at the beginning of the season) to mid 30's°C during Summer. Water temps are normally a few degrees lower. A wetsuit (shortsuit) is nice at the beginning and end of the season. Definitely not required in summer. Season normally goes from approx. October to April.
Average 10-15 kts N or NW winds for this beach. Sometimes up to 20+ kts. After April, the wind turns W to SW and is gusty/patchy. Can also be used on SE or East wind.
From the airport, drive into Hervey Bay on Booral Road (which becomes Elizabeth Street) until you get to the Esplanade. Turn left and travel a short distance until you see a large yellow 'dome' on the right. This is a picnic area with a carpark nearby. The launch spot is directly below the picnic area.
