Flat and choppy water. In E/SE winds great wave. Be careful with the mole, rocky wave breaker and bridge. For about 100m shallow from the beach. Perfectly flat water behind the mole in West winds, only ride here off-season.
A wetsuit is necessary nearly all over the year. The water is between 5-20°C (spring to summer), air temperature is in the average 18°C (in summer) and can go up to 30°C. If you have the adequate wetsuit you can surf from April to November. Off-season is possible but very cold.
Works in NE over E to S. Best winds in spring and fall. Summer lighter winds, can have nice East winds. Any strength possible with depressions. Nice speed conditions with W wind, but offshore.
From Hamburg or Luebeck drive north on the A1. Then stay on the road after the Autobahn ends. This is the B207. Follow it until you see the bridge to Fehmarn. Exit at Grossenbrode and follow signs to Grossenbrode. In Grossenbrode follow signs to `Suedstrand`.
