Ocean waves, flat to 8ft when swell is on. Most of the time it consists of 1-3ft wind chop with mellow waves. Only gets hairy if hurricanes come close or big northeasters whip through in winter. Season starts in October when cold fronts start pushing through. October through May is the best time, but the most reliable months would be April and May when a combination of late season cold fronts and spring trades blow and it warmed back up. Summer: Southeast thermal - lite to moderate, thunderstorm dodging. Fall: all directions but the Northeast is what we live for. Lite to windy, never can tell what day will produce. Winter: all directions, some gusty west winds on lagoon, and some great North and Northeast winds for the ocean. Spring: West, Northwest, North, Northeast and Southeast.

Cocoa Beach is located on Florida's east central coast just south of the Kennedy Space Center. Local trolley in Cocoa Beach is available for downwinders.

Edit
 Rules, Restrictions and Extra Info
Rules:
- Restricted Zones

There is only one no kiteboarding area. Patrick Air Force Base 3 miles south of Cocoa Beach has banned kiteboarding due to low flying planes. Please do not kiteboard anywhere near the base. Access to beach is just north of the base to start downwinders on southeast winds. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM PAFB. Please don't kiteboard on crowded holiday weekends, memorial day, labor day or 4th of July. Until beach crowds have subsided or find and uncrowded beach. So far the lifeguards and city officials have not crack down on kiteboarding, so please don't give them a reason to. This is possibly one of the best downwind areas of the coast. With the Cocoa Beach trolley running the length of the city every half hour it easy to do a five mile run for a dollar. Just wear a lycra and stash some flip flops to get on trolley or pick some up at the beach stores for 3 bucks. Favorite run on southeast winds is from 12th street south to SR 520 beach park. Showers to clean up and main trolley stop is close by. On north winds just do the opposite.

Edit
 Nightlife
Coconuts on the beach is hot during the spring and summer month. Both day and night. Orlando nightlife is really where it's at. It starts cranking at 11 pm.
