Ocean side: perfectly flat because of the offshore wind with Nortada and the Alvor East pier protection. The river mouth offers flat to choppy water and lots of shallow areas, perfect for beginners.

Large beach, almost desert beach. Access mainly by boat. White sand! Big pier to the west. On high tide the launch for the river mouth is very small.

North wind (Portuguese "Nortada"), every day at 3pm for sure (18-20 knots). Sometimes earlier. Only in sunny days (more often). North is onshore/sideonshore in the lagoon. Season: from June to August (best month).

07-07-28 02:15 Toby: during the last days the wind came in the afternoon. Sometimes at 3pm and sometimes at 5pm. Yesterday it got strong at about 8pm with up to 25 knots. Sunny and warm during the day. The water is a bit warmer now, about 18Â°C. A shorty is fine.

07-07-24 23:48 Toby: Oceanside: light sideonshore winds until 3pm, then it turned within 5 minutes to sideshore and then sideoffshore blowing about 16 knots. In the late afternoon it increased to 25 knots. Gusty on the ocean side. Air about 26Â°C, water 16Â°.

07-07-24 10:58 Toby: Up to 20 knots 2 days ago. Yesterday up to 18 knots. The water is pretty cold, about 16Â°C in the ocean, a bit warmer in the lagoon. Air about 26Â°C during day and 18Â°C at night. A shorty is needed, a fullsuit the best choice.
