Bring all your gear, from strong to light wind gear. Spring and fall are best but on a normal year there is great sea breezes almost everyday with 12-20 knots during summer.

From Virginia Beach take either the 60 along coast or 279 up north. 60 becomes Shore Drive and leads west. Stay on the road and you will pass by the state park. If you take 279, you will get onto 60, take it eastwards and you will pass by the state park as well.
